Royal Doulton Mad Hatter Large Toby Jug - England. Toby jugs have been around since the 18th century and during the 1930's Doulton launched the character jugs and mugs. Highly collectible, these whimsical characters came in assorted sizes. This Mad Hatter jug, styled after Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland' is made of high quality ceramic earthenware showing the hatter, the door mouse and clock of months (not hours) stuck at six o'clock. A wonderful collector's jug with many more laughs and conversations to be enjoyed.
Preowned in very good condition with no chips, scratches or repairs. Minor shelf wear. Copyright 1970, stamped with pattern D 6598 and the Royal Doulton stamp on bottom; production 1973-83. Please consider all measurements to be approximate - 7.5" H
