I sourced this from the lake my family has been going to since before I was even born, and spent most summers there at my grandmas cabin as a kid. Californias severe drought has almost emptied it in these last few years…Made it dangerous to boat in, filled it with bacteria etc…
We had a major fire a few years back, just one of many that ravaged Ca that year. Fire destroyed land, homes and cabins. Burned tens of thousands of trees, killed animals, and even burned down the cabin I made so many memories in as a kid:( This piece of wood is from a tree killed in that fire, it had been too badly burned to survive. The tree actually burned from the inside out…which is more common than you might think! So the exterior is unscathed, while the inside is scarred, covered in black. Not dirty, doesn’t rub off, the fire has hardened and sealed the wood!
